Taylor Myofascial Certification
Taylor Myofascial certification focuses on developing excellence in palpation, assessment & treatment of many different types of connective tissue dysfunction. Therapists will spend time fine tuning their palpation skills, and their ability to recognize postural abnormalities, as well as learning advanced myofascial treatment techniques to correct these issues. There are three levels of Myofascial certification with 10 courses in each, however, therapists and other Liscenced healthcare practitioners may take the courses from level 1 individually if preferred. All courses are NCBTMB and NY/FL state and CMTBC approved for continuing education credits. Physical & occupational therapy credits also available.

Taylor Techniques Level 1 Finale: How to Give a Full Body Myofascial Session
Massage Therapists and certain other licensed healthcare practitioners will be able to take a Level 1 certification of the above ten core classes starting with Fundamentals of the Taylor Myofascial Technique and assessment, and progressing through the series which addresses each area of the body, and culminates with how to give a full body myo session.
The fundamentals myo class introduces therapists to Carrie Taylor's key manual techniques, which will be used throughout each consecutive workshop, and can be adapted to use anywhere in the body. She will also cover the benefits of fascial work, fascial theory, and indications/contra-indications to treatment.
The assessment & treatment class focuses on how to do a thorough evaluation of a patient from intake and observation, to movement and palpative assessments. There will also be very specific focus on how to conduct a neurological assessment, and determine what regions need treatment to relieve nerve compression, based on the presenting symptoms. The other topics cover the many regions of the body that need treatment but are often overlooked.
Therapists will add many new and effective treatment modalities to their toolbox during the predominantly hands-on classes. Each class starts with a brief talk on how to approach assessment of a particular area, followed by several hands-on demonstrations of myofascial treatment strategies. After each demo, participants will practice giving and receiving the techniques with a partner. The culmination of the series is the completely hands-on workshop "How to give a full body Myofascial session" (without oil or lotion).
Throughout the series, therapists will receive feedback from Carrie on their specific postural challenges while working, and how to correct bad habits, so they can last many years in this profession. Review of proper draping is covered in each class to enhance confidence, and improve the client's comfort level during future sessions. Each of the participants will also experience each technique directly from Carrie, in order to further their learning process.
Therapists can also work on Carrie as an oral practical test at the end of the series, and receive direct one-on-one feedback and personal direction to further the learning process.
The benefits of myofascial work are well researched, and more than ever, requests for this work are increasing, as patient education increases, and as the medical community realizes its value. Learning these techniques will help the manual therapist become proficient at decreasing fascial and muscular adhesions, improving his palpation skills (due to the slow nature of the work), improving circulation of blood and lymph, decreasing nerve compression, accessing deeper structures such as periosteum and viscera safely, helping the patient improve her posture, and balance the autonomic nervous system, just to name a few advantages.
